Dear Sketchbookers,

May was a crazy month! I finished lots of projects, learned how much I love drawing pets and how therapeutic that is, and now I am ready to tackle a new subject.

Before I tell you about this month’s theme, I would like to remind you that

I am opening paid subscriptions again! The opportunity will open on the 1st and close on the 16th of every month. During June, you will receive a package of reference photos to work from for each day and a color palette per week. You will also be able to share your collages with the paid subscribers in the group chat. Additionally, you will have access to the replay of this month’s session with

Lisa Burda
(and many other replays!). Since we are almost in the middle of the year, I have put 50% off the yearly subscription FOREVER! This offer is valid only for 2 weeks. You don’t need a special code, just click on the following link:

After a month of increasing my dopamine and serotonin with these cute, fun, and weird pets, we will continue with something fun. June will be a month of COLLAGE! I will split it into 4 different topics:

  1. Traditional dolls and toys

  2. Landscapes

  3. xxxxxxx to be revealed

  4. xxxxxxx to be revealed

I will send 6 reference images a week in one post (Thanks to everyone who voted in the latest poll!). The reference images will be a combination of pictures I have taken myself and some others from copyright-free sites. The first reference image will be for all subscribers, and the rest 5 only for paid subscribers. I recommend making one collage a day, and on the 7th day of the week, put them together in a composition, so don’t glue them to another paper yet!

Following this workflow will help you:

  • Develop a consistent practice in a month

  • Tackle a big task in small chunks

  • Have an awesome image for your portfolio every week

Along with the references, I will send you a color palette per week so the pictures look consistent when you want to put them together.

If you like them each one separately, no worries, take one image from the link I will leave below to make 7 pieces each week ;)

On the 10th of June at 8 pm CET, we will have a workshop with

Lisa Burda
, and we will work on collage Landscapes. Did you know that Lisa is about to finish her 100-day project? She dedicated all this time to making landscapes using collage! She will talk to us about her adventure and show us some tricks on how to work with paper and landscapes, some from reference and some from imagination. Link to sign up:

I want to join!

I thought this month would be fun to make a co-collage session where you can catch up on your Collage pieces or any other project you have planned. This Session will take place on Monday, June 23rd at 3 pm CET. I am trying to accommodate different times so that people from other parts of the world can join as well.

Sign up for this session:

I need some co-working time

Before I forget, my goals for this month:

  • Explore Collage like a beginner

  • Stay consistent with my art practice

  • Be grateful that I get to do art

  • Work on more pieces for my portfolio

  • Start posting on Pinterest (this is something I have been wanting to do for a while… let’s see if it works!)

  • Post the next 3 portfolio Diaries!

Are you ready to explore Collage? Here are the references for this week:

  1. Traditional dolls and toys

Day 1. At home, we love buying handmade traditional toys and craftwork. My mom knows that and she gifted me these 2 dolls a couple of years ago.
